OCTOBER 15 - HALLOWEEN FOR KIDS IS A GO, LEGAULT SAYS

Quebec Premier François Legault announced this afternoon during the daily press brief on COVID-19 that children can go trick-or-treating, but that there will be a few restrictions in place.
  • They cannot go door to door with their friends. They should go door-to-door with their family, or members of their household bubble.
  • Candies and treats should be distributed at a two-metre distance, perhaps by wrapping them in individual bags and placing them in a basket. Kids should only take one treat if left to the child's discretion, he noted.

Adults are not allowed to hold Halloween parties or get-togethers, Legault said. “This year is only for kids gathering candies,” Legault added.

So, if you want to get creative this year, here is some great ideas from CFBS on how to have a boo-tastic time without the out and about of adult parties:
  • Have a family Halloween celebration at home
  • Host a family Halloween movie night
  • Try alternatives to trick-or-treating, such as a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt, hanging packages of candy on a tree or fence to be “picked,” or setting up a table in the front yard laden with individual cups filled with candy for trick-or-treaters to take.
  • Participate in an outdoor Halloween parade and show off your costume.
  • “Boo” someone! Leave a bag of treats or a pumpkin on a friend’s doorstep after dark, ring the bell and run.
  • Set up a Halloween scavenger hunt in and around your house for the people in your household.
